Malcat and his pumpkins
Malcat with four pumpkins on his back
After the circular reading, everyone hiked up to the top of the bridge, which took about 20 minutes. There were a fairly large number of pumpkins this year. Rev. DeLuxe brought one large pumpkin, Malcat and "Red" Pussycat brought four, Tami and Alicia May brought three or four, and Evan and Lisa also brought three or four, making a total of between ten and twelve pumpkins. There were a number of innocent bystanders; people practicing their rock climbing skills, both immediately below the west end of the bridge, and on the bridge level itself.
Innocent Bystanders
These people were trying very hard not to see the sacrifice ceremony
These people looked on with puzzled expressions as we trooped up to the bridge level, but once we started acting silly it was clear that they had no interest in what we were doing. At one point, a concerned young hiker-dude approached Rev. DeLuxe and expressed his concern that we weren't making sure the trail was clear below before throwing our pumpkins. After being reassured that this was not the case, he proceded on his hike, and almost immediately, behind him, a young boy who had been bicycling on the trail fell off his bicycle, much to the immediate concern of both the group of Tinites and his mother, who had been riding behind him.
